DESCRIPTION:
Art Toy Gama is a professional, artistic and international Collective representing different
contemporary trends in the world of Art, and with the intention of carrying out
projects and exhibitions that make a difference, challenging the status quo,
and with the idea of promoting and giving greater impetus to the Movement or artistic Trend based on the Art Toys.
And because of the theme of the 27th
Horror and Fantasy Film Festival from San Sebastian -from October 6 to
November 7-, in the space of Arteuparte
universe, a Gallery located within the space of Tabakalera - Centre for
Culture and Contemporary Art located in the city of Donosti/San Sebastian,
it will be presented an art exhibition that will combine customized characters
and original artworks and paintings by some of the best artists of the current
scene, who have kindly agreed to participate in the event with the intervention
of their own platforms, creating art Toys as authentic works of art. Besides we
can also find some original illustrations and prints.

“JAPANESE HORROR STORY. Off Horror and
Fantasy Film Festival”
In an era in which everything is
interconnected, an artistic Contemporary
Movement like this based on the Art
with Toys (Art Toys), can not
but be understood as part of something bigger, of one more comprehensive and
popular culture, which is many times a reflection of concerns and anxieties.
Because if there is something that defines human beings over time, it is
probably the fear, especially the fear
of the unknown. The fear of the supernatural and / or the fantastic.
Although many times it is an attractive fear, this is the reason for the
success of horror movies and fantasy film.
The fantastic and Japanese horror
movies, but also programs and television series, plus the manga and anime have
inspired the creation of countless characters and / or plastic toys; and also
from the nineties, the creation of collectable
Art Toys for adults, that are part of a new artistic vision or avant-garde,
crossover between fine art, design, pop culture, and based on the Art with
Toys.
Art Toys that in many times are a
reflection of concerns and anxieties. Because if there is something that
defines human beings over time, it is probably the fear, especially the fear of the unknown. The fear of
the supernatural and / or the fantastic. Although many times it is an
attractive fear, this is the reason for the success of horror movies and fantasy
film.
Characters and / or imaginary creatures that absorb popular culture, urban movements and social criticism, with that aura of a Toy that is no longer a Toy, because the Art Toy is not a Toy to play,
but an artwork that aims
to strip the viewer of any preconceived ideas, labels and stereotypes.
A
character with a story, with a message and that contains a reflection of the artist. With an own original
narrative result of the imagination of an artist. Unique or limited edition pieces, they are more an aesthetic and
sensibility that a material or type of figure... There are no rules or unique materials.
A plastic artwork. A "toy"
decontextualized, liberated from its original function - as an object to
play in the usual sense - and that enters the adult world as a piece of art,
design, decoration and collecting.
A kind of cultural creation, the Art Toys, that in its origins it is the result of a mixture of subcultures and Tendencies. A living example of expansion,
globalization and hybridization of cultures, of varied styles, and that in this
exhibition we have a sample...

DESCRIPCIÓN:
El
Colectivo Art Toy Gama es un equipo
profesional, artístico e internacional que representa a diferentes tendencias
contemporáneas, dentro del mundo del Arte, unidos con la intención de realizar
proyectos y exposiciones que marquen la diferencia, y con la idea de
promocionar y dar un mayor impulso al
Movimiento o tendencia artística basada en los Art Toys o el Arte con Juguete.
Y aprovechando la temática de la 27ª Semana de Cine Fantástico y de Terror de San Sebastián (del
27-6 de Noviembre), en el espacio del universo Arteuparte, Galería
ubicada dentro del espacio de Tabakalera
- Centro de cultura y arte contemporáneo ubicado en la ciudad de Donosti-,
se va a presentar una exposición de Arte que aunará piezas intervenidas y obras
individuales originales por algunos de los mejores artistas del panorama
actual, que han accedido a participar en el evento con la intervención de sus
propios modelos, creando Art Toys como auténticas obras de arte. Además
de que podremos encontrar igualmente algunas ilustraciones y prints originales.
Una Exposición titulada “Japanese Horror Story”. Del día 6
de Octubre al 7 de Noviembre.
CONTEXTO Histórico y Artístico
“JAPANESE HORROR STORY. Off Festival Cine
Fantástico y de Terror”
En una época en la que todo
está interconectado, un Movimiento
artístico contemporáneo como éste basado en el Arte con Juguetes (Art Toys), no puede dejar de entenderse como
parte de algo más grande, de una cultura más global y popular, que es muchas
veces reflejo de inquietudes y desasosiegos. Porque si hay algo que define al
ser humano a lo largo del tiempo, seguramente sea el miedo, sobre todo el miedo a lo desconocido. A lo
sobrenatural y/o a lo fantástico. Aunque muchas veces sea un miedo atrayente,
por eso el éxito de las películas de
miedo y las de cine fantástico.
El cine fantástico y de terror japonés,
pero también los programas y series de televisión, además de los manga y los
anime han inspirado la creación de innumerables personajes y/o juguetes de
plástico, y también a partir de los años noventa, la creación de Juguetes de Autor coleccionables, que
son parte de una nueva visión artística o vanguardia, cruce entre las bellas
artes, el diseño, la cultura pop, y basado en el Arte con Juguetes.
Art Toys que muchas veces son reflejo de inquietudes y desasosiegos. Porque si hay algo
que define al ser humano a lo largo del tiempo, seguramente sea el miedo, sobre
todo el miedo a lo desconocido. A lo
sobrenatural y/o a lo fantástico. Aunque muchas veces sea un miedo atrayente,
por eso el éxito de las películas de
miedo y las de cine fantástico.
Personajes y/o criaturas imaginarias que absorben la
cultura popular, movimientos urbanos y críticas sociales, con ese aura de
juguete que ya no lo es, porque el Art Toy ya no es un juguete para jugar, sino
una obra que pretende despojar al espectador de ideas preconcebidas, etiquetas
y estereotipos.
Un
personaje con una historia, con un mensaje, y que contiene una reflexión del artista.
Con una narrativa propia y original resultado de la imaginación de un artista. Piezas únicas o en edición limitada,
son más una estética y una sensibilidad, que un material o un tipo de figura…No hay reglas ni materiales únicos.
Una obra plástica. Un “juguete”
descontextualizado, liberado de su
función original – como objeto para jugar en el sentido más usual- y que
entra en el mundo adulto como pieza de arte, diseño, de decoración y
coleccionismo.
Un tipo de creación cultural, la de los
Art Toys, en sus orígenes resultado de una mezcla
de subculturas y movimientos. Un
ejemplo vivo de expansión, de
globalización e hibridación de culturas, de estilos variados, y de
los que en esta Exhibición tenemos una muestra…
