ART by JUDAS ARRIETA
MOMOTARO (a story
of Kamishibai), a project carried out by the artist Judas Arrieta and the
writer Harkaitz Cano. The two creators have come together to review and adapt a
Japanese oral tradition, the Kamishibai.
The Kamishibai(paper theater), consists of a small stage where illustrations are inserted
that are removed as the story is told. These illustrations or pictures contain
a drawing on one side and text on the other. While the audience watches the
drawings, the presenter or interpreter reads the text.
The story told by the two authors is that of Momotaro, a
child born of a giant peach who, once a teenager, decides to go on an
adventure, travel to the island of the Demons in search of a treasure. On this
trip he will find various allies, along with those who will fight against
different monsters to get the loot.
