We titled our artwork ALICE. This tribute to Alicia, that girl
we have all met by the celebrated British author Lewis Carroll, pretends the
representation of the idea of truth.
ALICE is
conceived as a mashup between the contemporary neopop world of the Japanese
artist Takashi Murakami and the classical, Greco-Roman world that once inspired
the archetypal concept of TRUTH - alétheia -.
ALICE masked, hidden under the
commercial face of Kiki - emblem of the company Kaikai Kiki CO., Ltd. of
Takashi Murakami- shows us a mirror, faces the spectator in a moment of
mockery. ALICE questions us as individuals, challenges our identities. Our
version of Alice invites us to reflect on the double position of the
individual, with her we question our identity, makes us wonder about the other.
Alicia is the contemporary image, an updated version of alétheia. In the image
of Alicia are concentrated the secrets and memories of pre-Socratic philosophy.
For the design of this piece
we have used the corporate image of Takashi Murakami: Kai Kai Ki Ki. The mascots
of the company embody two opposing states of the same thing, they are one and
its opposite; In this sense, we have elevated to Kaikai Kiki to the category of
icon, where - as would happen with Mickey Mouse or Astroboy - its figures are
now motive of appropriation.
